Press Release | Saturday 7 February 2026

Cayman National recognises the lasting life and legacy of the late Benson O. Ebanks, the company’s first Chairman, whose leadership played a pivotal role in shaping one of the Cayman Islands’ most respected financial services organisations.

As the first Chairman of Cayman National, Mr. Ebanks provided steady guidance at a formative time in the institution’s history. His vision, integrity, and commitment to strong governance helped establish the foundation upon which Cayman National has grown and prospered over the decades.

On Monday 26 January 2026, Mr. Ebanks was honoured as a Cayman Islands National Hero, in recognition of his significant contributions to the Cayman Islands and his role in helping to shape the physical development and growth of the country. His influence extended beyond the financial sector, leaving an enduring mark on the nation’s infrastructure, institutions, and communities.

His legacy is visibly reflected within Cayman National itself. The Cayman National Brac Customer Service Centre proudly bears his name, serving as a lasting tribute to his leadership and service. That legacy continues at the highest level of the organisation, with his daughter (Janet Hislop) serving as Cayman National’s current Chief Executive Officer and Bank President, carrying forward the values, vision, and commitment to excellence that defined his life’s work.

Cayman National proudly honours Benson O. Ebanks’ enduring contribution, recognising his role in setting a standard of leadership, integrity, and national service that continues to guide the organisation and inspire future generations.
