Green banking at Cayman National supports Earth Day theme to “Invest In Our Planet”

Cayman National’s GreenLiving programme offers significant green lending opportunities for customers wishing to engage in this year’s Earth Day theme to “Invest In Our Planet”. Personal loans with preferential rates are available on products such as solar panels and electric vehicles, helping people make the switch from fossil fuels to renewable energy and reduce their carbon footprint.

Cayman National’s commitment to sustainability covers all areas of business operations, from products and services on offer to embracing technology, moving towards paperless banking and participating in green initiatives in the community.

Cayman National is one of this year’s lead sponsors for the annual Chamber of Commerce Earth Day Clean-Up taking place island-wide on Saturday 22 April. With a team of 15 employees joining the campaign to remove litter from beaches and roadsides, Cayman National is investing time and resources in helping to preserve Cayman’s natural environment.

As part of the Republic Group, Cayman National has subscribed to the UN’s Principles for Responsible Banking that guide strategy, decision-making and investment in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement which aims to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees.

“A green economy is healthy for people and the planet,” said Janet Hislop, Cayman National’s Chief Executive Officer. “Organisations don’t have to choose between going green or being profitable. Developing a robust environmental, social and governance framework aids financial performance and improves employee engagement. At Cayman National, we have embraced ESG principles to enable an equitable workplace for our people and a more prosperous future for all.”

Cayman National’s GreenLiving programme offers loans of $10,000+ with 100% financing available to qualifying borrowers for hybrid and electric vehicles. Other eligible items include solar panels or batteries, energy smart shutters and other energy-smart upgrades.
