Cayman National Charity Walk/Run

The Cayman National Milestone 5K Walk/ 10K Run was first held on the 16th January 2010 as part of Cayman National’s 35th Anniversary Celebration.  Now coined as the Charity Walk/Run the event encourages the public to make a healthy start for the new year with the overall goal of helping the community and supporting the charities that benefit from the walk/run.  The event started off as an annual event however in recent times has now become a biennial event.

This year the event will be held Saturday 28th January 2017, which is Cayman National’s official anniversary day.  As the organization opened its doors in 1974, the event now maintains a 70s theme with a tie die t-shirt for the first 300 participants who sign up.

For the 2017 event the organization is taking a different approach by getting the public involved with a call to all local charities and non-profit organizations to submit a brief write-up on their charitable organization and why they are in need.  The deadline for submissions is  19th August and will be reviewed by a steering committee, which will short list the charities/non-profit organisations.  The finalists will then be featured in all Cayman National Customer Service Centres with a voting station for the public to place their vote for the charity of their choice, the charities that receive the most votes will be the featured charities for the 2017 Charity Walk/Run event and will equally split all proceeds raised from the event.
