Cayman National Hosts Student Seminar with International Speaker, Carla Harris

On Saturday May 22nd 2010 Cayman National hosted a Student Seminar for all students in the Cayman Islands ages 13 and up in the Sir Vassel Johnson Hall at the University College of the Cayman Islands Campus. Many enthusiastic students gave up their Saturday morning to listen to the keynote speaker, Ms. Carla Harris, whom Cayman National invited to the Cayman Islands to address their employees at the Annual Staff Awards Ceremony the same evening. Ms Harris is the Managing Director of Global Capital Markets at Morgan Stanley. She has received many awards honoring business professionals, including Fortune magazine's "50 Most Powerful Black Executives in America," Essence magazine's "50 Women Who Are Shaping the World," and Black Enterprise's "50 Most Powerful Women in Business." She is the author of the book "Expect to Win: Proven strategies for success from a Wall Street Vet" published in January 2009. During her presentation and discussion, she covered the following topics:

  • Building values and resilience;
  • Being different yet committed to team play;
  • Life planning and Life Balance;
  • Making sacrifices and having fun at life;
  • Strategies to win yet commitment to care.

At the end of her presentation, students were allowed to ask questions and many took up the opportunity. Students also received an autographed version of her book, Expect to Win and a water bottle complimentary of Cayman National. Mr. Ormond Williams, CNB President, said he was "happy to see so many young people sacrificing their Saturday morning to listen to an inspirational and motivational speaker." The Student Seminar was part of Cayman National's commitment to community outreach and making a difference in the lives of people.
