Cayman National stands by Special Olympics

22 March 2010

Cayman National has been a long-time supporter of the Special Olympics Cayman Islands (SOCI) and has pledged its continued support by their recent donation of CI$5,000.

The Chairman of SOCI, Eric Crutchley, expressed thanks at the continuing support of Special Olympics Cayman Islands by Cayman National, more so given the difficult economic times we are experiencing. The funds are earmarked to replace the ageing bus which is urgently needed to transport athletes to their respective training venues.

"Training is so important to the athletes well being and discipline and the results are reflected in the remarkable success in the recent Latin American games in Puerto Rico where Cayman earned 7 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals and several other placements out of over 1,000 athletes from some 35 countries," said Mr. Crutchley. "Thank you Cayman National."

Ormond A Williams, President of Cayman National Bank comments: "Special Olympics embody the spirit of what is possible in spite of the challenges experienced. We believe that this spirit must be kept alive in the hearts of the athletes so that they can know our love, live life to the fullest and achieve their best. In so doing, they give us hope."
