Cayman National is pleased to announce the top winners in their amateur photo competition.

As a continuation of their 35th anniversary celebrations an amateur photo competition was launched with an invitation to photo enthusiasts within the Cayman Islands and the Isle of Man to capture the beauty of their indigenous or popular region's flora and fauna through the lens of their camera. The top three winning entries in each category would then be featured in their 2010 calendar.

Cayman National's calendar has become a collector's item for customers and residents, as well as many visitors to the Cayman Islands. Each year a theme is selected which has included a wide range of picturesque scenes and images of the Cayman Islands, the Isle of Man, Panama and Dubai, and this year's theme is centered on the abundance of incredibly diverse local flora and fauna which can be found in these locations.

According to Claudia Welds, the project coordinator, an overwhelming response of exceptional photography was entered in the competition from both locations, and although each calendar month will feature one of the top winners, a decision was made to add extra pages in the calendar in an effort to include images from as many of the entrants as possible.

"We are so very excited to include these beautiful images in next year's calendar, and wish to thank all of the participants for taking time to submit such an excellent display of talent", said Ms. Welds.

Two of the winners of the Sister
Islands category were presented
with their prize by Leroy Brown,
Cayman Brac Customer Service
Rep. (L) Leroy Brown, CNB,
Greg Lipton and Nina Banks.

The following local participants received first, second and third prizes respectively in the noted categories:

  • Grand Cayman Flora: Lenecia Bodden, Edzel Amante and Laura Watler
  • Grand Cayman Fauna: Robert Llamas, Bethany Tomkins and Lenecia Bodden
  • Sister Island Flora: Greg Lipton, Sean Smith and Greg Lipton
  • Sister Island Fauna: Nina Banks, Sean Smith and Gary Redfern

In addition, a number of entries have been designated as 'honourable mention' which will also have a place of prominence on each calendar month.

The calendar will be available to customers and friends at Cayman National's annual community event, "Home for Christmas" on Tuesday December 1st.
