Cayman National hosted a special 'going away' reception for the Special Olympic Athletes and Delegates as they prepare to leave for the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games, which will be held from 28 September through 11 October, 2007 in Shanghai, China.

The event was held at Cayman National's Elgin Avenue offices with the athletes and their coaches and representatives of the Special Olympic Board in attendance.

"As the Gold Sponsor, Cayman National is pleased to host this event to wish our team every success in their competitions. We are indeed proud of the athletes, and of the dedication of the coaches and all who are involved with the Special Olympics. We know that the entire delegation will be great ambassadors for the Cayman Islands", said Cayman National's Corporate Communications Senior Executive, Claudia Welds.

The Chairman of the Special Olympic Board, Mr. Eric Crutchley, expressed appreciation for Cayman National's support and recognition of Special Olympics Cayman Islands. "With their support and that of other corporate and individual sponsors, it makes it possible for our athletes and coaches to participate in the World Summer Games this year, which otherwise would perhaps be just a dream. This will be our fifth attendance to the International Summer Games and will give our athletes the opportunity to not only show off their skills but also be proud ambassadors in flying the flag of Cayman on the International stage. We wish them every success", commented Mr. Crutchley.

The World Games Delegation will depart on Wednesday 26th September arriving at the Host Town of Xinchang on the 28 September and the World Games starting on 2nd October 2007 followed by the Closing Ceremonies on October 11th, 2007 being held in the Jiangwan Stadium
